Job Purpose

  • This position will work on multiple customer projects as part of a Database and Platform Migration Services team with primary work involving the migrations and setup of database environments across heterogeneous platforms

  • The position will participate in team or company projects as required, maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of existing best practices in database migrations, design, and implementation, capacity planning, administration, monitoring and provide on-call support.

  • This position migrates and implements Oracle 11g, 12c, 10g, 9i and also 8i databases, as well as application/web servers across multiple platforms. They will also participate in the implementation of backup & recovery, replication and high availability features. Additional responsibilities include improvements of database integrity through quality assurance and manages change control processes related the Oracle database or applications environments.

Essential Job Responsibilities :

  • Work as a collaborative member in a Database and Platform Migration Services team with shared responsibility for all databases and database activities

  • Assessment and analysis of database environments

  • Participate in capacity planning activities

  • Platform layout design for database hosting

  • Migrations, moves and cloning of databases and environments

  • Technical Configuration and Design of database environments

  • Implementation of HA and DR capabilities in database environments, including replication and clustering technologies

  • Testing of Replication, Backup and Recovery (including Disaster Recovery)

  • Performance tuning, alerting & monitoring, server configuration,

  • Implement and utilize the Release and Change Management as well as other ITIL processes

  • Working with application developers to integrate efforts with relational databases

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business or equivalent or. High School diploma with 5+ years equivalent work experience.

Job Related Experience:

  • Experience supporting Oracle Production databases in a high availability enterprise environment with a minimum of 5+ years of Oracle DBA experience.

  • Experience in migrating and cloning Oracle Databases and Technology Stack Components across multiple Operating Systems & Hardware Platforms – Linux, Solaris, Unix, Windows.

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database and how to maintain high availability and provide for disaster recovery in a highly specialized fast paced, 7X24 operation environment.

  • Knowledge of escalation and Root Cause Analysis, ITIL and industry best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g, 12c

  • Oracle Data Guard, Real Application Clusters, Golden Gate, RMAN, OEM 12c Grid Control

  • Oracle Engineered Systems – Exadata, Exalogic, Exalytics, ODA, PCA, SuperCluster, ZFS and ZDLRA

  • SPARC & Intel Servers

  • Very Large Database support, 4+ Terabytes

  • Data Encryption

  • Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle LDAP/IAM

  • Applications DBA – Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, Hyperion, Fusion, JDE

  • Other Applications Technology DBA – OBIEE, OBIA, SOA, Fusion Middleware

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills.

  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot change scripts as needed.

  • Experience with backup and restore processes & procedures.

  • The ability to document standard operational procedures.

  • Knowledge and experience with capacity planning as it pertains to databases.
