DXC Technology Manager: System Development in Any City, Tennessee
Manages the development, installation, and maintenance of computer programs for business clients and/or scientific applications. Participates in quality control discussions of all custom developed applications and databases.
Essential Job Functions
Manages company programming groups on routine or larger scope application systems to ensure that applications meet specifications.
Prepares reports to communicate project progress and status. Identifies problems and recommends solution to higher level management.
Plans, directs and controls the development and maintenance of both routine computer business and scientific applications and routine computer applications software programs to ensure that efficient operation of client and company systems.
Assigns and oversees the work of analysts and programming staff, providing technical support and direction to ensure that application development is completed in a time manner and meets customer specifications and requirements.
Evaluates current and projected software and hardware systems to ensure that development in these areas is in accordance with changing needs of clients.
Conducts feasibility studies, time and cost estimates and is responsible for the establishment and implementation of new and revised applications and programs to ensure that projects adhere to budgetary and company guidelines.
Confers with and advises subordinates of administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods to ensure that goals and procedures are accurately communicated to appropriate personnel.
Consults with clients and other personnel to coordinate activities on routine or smaller scope application accounts to increase cost effectiveness and product efficiency.
Selects and hires employees. Trains and evaluates employees to enhance their performance, development, and work product. Addresses performance issues and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Motivates and rewards employees including providing salary increases, bonuses and promotions within allocated budgets and company guidelines.
Prepares and recommends operating and personnel budgets for approval. Monitors spending for adherence to budget, recommends variances as necessary.
Manages onshore and offshore team members
Ability to prioritize and support multiple team initatives
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or related field preferred
Nine or more years of system development or systems analysis experience
Five or more years of leadership or supervisory experience
Experience working with business processes, environment, demand for products and market competition
Experience working with development tools, processes, approaches and techniques
Experience working with product configurations
Experience working with software, systems, applications, and network markets
Experience working with mainframes, scheduling software and other related technologies
Experience working with administrative practices and procedures
Experience working with data warehousing standards, strategies and rules
Understand life insurance and annuity products
Good organization leadership and decision making skills
Good communication skills to communicate with customers, department personnel and management
Good skills at managing risks during installation of new software applications
Good human relations skills to select, develop, mentor, discipline and reward employees
Good interpersonal and interviewing skills to gather information from personnel
Good creative problem solving skills
Ability to lead and work in a team environment
Ability to communicate and convert technical knowledge into easily understood terms for clients
Willingness to travel
Agile/Scrum experience preferred
